Through the FDEP Adopt-an-Island Program, citizen stewardship for Biscayne Bay Islands is promoted. The Bay is a highly used resource and much of the trash and debris is collected on the islands of the BBAPs.
Individuals who adopt an island are responsible for leading four clean-ups each year on the adopted island and must report the amount and type of debris removed from each island. FOBB members have been a part of this movement through which they are able to host island and coastal clean-ups.
